Automation / IT services
The Systems Department of the Eastern Shore Regional Library provides
automation and technology support to the eight
county library systems. The primary responsibility is to provide guidance
on the best use of current technology and positioning the Library Systems
to take full advantage of developing technology. The department is comprised
of seven full time staff.
Services include:
- Design and construction of local area networks
- Development of a wide area network
- Development of wireless networks
- Offer consultation and web development services to Shore
Public Libraries as requested
- Provide the shore library community with an Internet presence
and Internet e-mail accounts
- Provide evaluation and recommendations for the implementation
of new technology
- Maintenance and installation of personal computers and data
communications devices
- Provide video conference facilities for the library community
- Help public libraries with digitization projects utilizing
the ESRL digitization lab
- Develop and conduct computer hardware, software and Internet
training courses
- Cooperative purchasing for computers and related peripherals
- Provide support for several county libraries Integrated Library Systems (ILS)
- Help troubleshoot electronic resources subscription problems
